Threats to keeping data safe

Criminals are becoming more sophisticated in their use of technology. Always be vigilant and follow the procedures in place to help keep everyone’s information safe.

Loss of data

If you lose information about our volunteers or older people, you must report this to Re-engage immediately via:

Unauthorised access

It’s also important that you don’t open or update anyone‘s files in a place where they can be overlooked by others.

As a volunteer, what do you need to do if there is a data breach?

If you know or suspect that a breach of security has taken place, report the information to Re-engage immediately via:

knowledge@reengage.org.uk

Remember the three Rs

  • Recognise
  • Report
  • Record

By following these three Rs you are helping to maintain the security of data.

What should you do if an older person asks you how you use their information?

A good response would be to explain that Re-engage will only use data to ensure that we deliver best quality services in line with our organisational guidelines. We will not share that data with anyone else for marketing purposes.

If they have further questions, you can always refer them to the Re-engage website or team and our data protection lead will respond to their questions.
