Become a lunch club volunteer in Crosby

As a lunch club group volunteer, you’ll support the lunch club coordinator ensuring that the lunch club is safe and enjoyable for all that attend. You’ll set up the tables, take payment, serve the food, and tidy up at the end of each lunch club.

Lunch clubs take place on a Wednesday lunchtime and include older guests, lunch club volunteers, minibus drivers and the lunch club group coordinator.

Crosby lunch club provides a lifeline of friendship for socially isolated and lonely older people. The warm, regular, and friendly companionship provides a vital link with the outside world from which they’ve become isolated.

  • Have a 30-minute induction call with a member of the Re-engage team
  • Submit an ID check
  • Provide a reference
  • Complete online volunteer training modules
  • Be willing to attend a health and safety and food hygiene course

Tasks include:

  • Setting up tables and ensuring the venue is safe.
  • Welcoming older guests to the lunch club and making them feel welcome and comfortable.
  • Collecting payment from each older guest, counting the payments together with another volunteer and paying the payments into the Re-engage bank account.
  • Serving the food.
  • Tidying away and cleaning the venue at the end of the lunch club.
  • Following the guidance in the online volunteer training so that the lunch clubs are safe, enjoyable, appropriate and in line with our charitable aims.
  • Keeping in regular contact with the lunch club group coordinator so they know when you’re available to volunteer.
  • Reporting any concerns to the lunch club group coordinator.
  • Keeping your knowledge and training up to date by reading our monthly volunteer newsletter – Re-engage Matters.
