Our very first tea party groups began in central London in 1965. Since then, we have developed right across the capital and currently have 106 tea party groups in London. We want to have more because we know how important it is to re-connect older people within their local communities.

Our work in London spans every borough and we currently need group coordinators in North Lambeth, Camden and Hampstead, amongst other roles.

From time to time, members of our London groups have worked with our corporate partners to enjoy tea parties in the City and visits to the British Museum. But most of all they are a wonderful way for Londoners from all walks of life to get together in their local communities and share an enjoyable afternoon.

Our online map shows the tea party volunteering opportunities that are available in our groups.

For more information on spaces for older people in those groups you can contact Ruramiso Munetsi and Hannah Ali on our London team via our website form.  When completing the form, please say where you are from and who you would like your request directed to so that we can get back to you swiftly.

Hundreds of Londoners have stepped forward to be part of our call companions telephone befriending service, which was launched in spring 2020. We are always delighted to hear from people who want to volunteer for us. Our simple online form is the start of a journey to making a huge difference and meeting inspirational older people.

Call companions is a service that provides a regular call from a volunteer and is a hugely important connection with the wider world for older people who have very little social contact and struggle to get out of the house.

As some of the older people in the service have said:

“I'm alone, very suddenly and viciously, so gold star to whoever came up with call companions. I couldn't have had a more fantastic experience.”

“Having calls off Helena each week is a godsend. I really do look forward to it. Life's so rubbish and you don't want to admit you're lonely, but when she's gone off the phone I feel uplifted.”

If you are looking for a regular call for yourself or for a family member then you can apply via our website form.

If you work with older people and would like to contact our London team then you can use the contact form on our website and they’d be delighted to hear from you.
