Choose how you'll use your minutes
Connect with an older person and make a lasting difference
Our Call Companion service connects a volunteer with an older person who is experiencing loneliness or isolation.
As a Call Companion volunteer, you’ll make a regular phone call, typically once a week, to foster friendship, enjoyment, and conversation.
It’s a simple but powerful way to bring warmth and companionship into someone’s life.
What’s involved
- Fill in an online application
- Provide one reference and complete an ID check
- Complete some online training
- Start calling and connecting from the comfort of your home
You’ll need: To be 18+ and based in the UK.
Help older people reconnect with their community
As a volunteer driver, you’ll transport one or two older people to and from our monthly tea parties, friendly, welcoming gatherings that build lasting friendships. You’ll stay and take part too, sharing in the conversation, laughter, and some cake!
What’s involved
- Apply online, provide a reference, and complete an ID check
- Have a four-door car and a full, clean driving licence
- Complete short online training before getting started
You’ll need: To be 18+ with access to a car.
Help us understand the difference we make
Research volunteers conduct short telephone interviews and questionnaires with older people and volunteers, enter survey data, and (optional) undertake desk research on topics relating to loneliness, social isolation and later life.
Our research volunteers play a vital role in our ability to evaluate and improve our services; your time will ensure we continue to deliver support and insights that genuinely transform lives.
What’s involved
- Apply online, nominate a referee, and complete an ID check
- Complete quick online training modules
- Receive guidance and support whenever you need it
