We believe that no one should be lonely at Christmas or at any other time throughout the year

This is why we are helping isolated older people aged 75 and over to find companionship at Christmas with our Community Christmas campaign - and are building friendships year-round at our monthly Sunday social groups.

Did you know?

250,000 people over 75 are not looking forward to Christmas because for them it's "just another day"

2.2 million people in the UK who are over 75 live alone

62,000 people over 75 often go a month without a conversation with family or friends

Three Christmas challenges

Nobody should be lonely at Christmas. Give something back this season by raising money through one of our three Christmas fundraising ideas.

Put your best foot forward for the 250,000 over 75s who are not looking forward to Christmas this year. We know it’s the month of cold weather, Christmas parties and mulled wine but can you still challenge yourself to clock up 250,000 steps between 1st and 25th December?

Set up your fundraising page with GivePenny and link up your Strava, Fitbit or Runkeeper account to keep track of how many steps you’ve done and set yourself milestones.

Ask your friends and family to sponsor your challenge. They can make a one-off donation towards your challenge or pledge to donate a certain amount per step or milestone. GivePenny will automatically update your supporters on your progress.

P.S. Once you’ve raised your first £30 we will send you a Re-engage t-shirt!

It’s hard to imagine what it feels like to go a month without having a conversation with friends or family – especially in the month of Christmas excitement and festivities. But this is the reality for 62,000 people over 75.

Could you challenge yourself to a 62,000 second silence this December? That’s about 17 hours, so your average waking day.

Sound like a huge sacrifice? Not sure you can zip it for that long? How about giving up your phone for a day instead?

Whichever challenge you choose, the money you raise will make a huge difference in changing this reality for some of the oldest people in our communities.

Set up a fundraising page with JustGiving and get your friends and family to sponsor your challenge with a donation.
