Can you tell us a little about your role at Re-engage?
My job is to lead the team within the service delivery department. It is my responsibility to ensure that we are providing a great service to the older people in our tea party groups, call companions service and activity groups. It is also my job to make sure that all Re-engage volunteers are given the support that they need.

Our team has many responsibilities.  We match older people with call companion volunteers and with tea party guest vacancies. We also support people to become volunteers and guide them through the onboarding process and we answer all the enquiries that come into Re-engage each day via the telephone and email.

What do you enjoy most about your role?
Re-engage is committed to reducing loneliness and social isolation in older people. The thing I enjoy most about my role is getting to collaborate with colleagues and volunteers to explore new ways of meeting our goals in a quick, safe and sustainable way.

Can you tell us a little about your background?
I started my career as a primary school teacher in Plymouth, Devon. After five years I decided to move into the charity sector, and I have worked within a variety of roles for both small and large charities. I was a volunteer coordinator for Alzheimer’s Society, a rehoming centre manager for Dogs Trust, a service support manager for Whizz-Kidz and a services manager for Mencap (to name but a few).

My experiences within the charity sector have been varied but my focus with every role has been to empower volunteers. This is my passion and the main reason why I applied to work with Re-engage.

Do you have any anecdotes that you'd like to share about your time at Re-engage so far?
I have only been with Re-engage for a few months now, so I am still collecting my anecdotes. But I intend to make Re-engage my home and I do hope that by this time next year I will have an abundance of anecdotes suitable for all occasions!

Sum up Re-engage in three words.
Determined, warm and committed.

What makes you get out of bed in the morning?
Knowing that every day we are making a difference and changing people’s lives for the better is all the inspiration I need.
